June 25, 2010, Newsletter Issue #297: Recharge Your Teaching Technique With Trips To Workshops And Seminars

Tip of the Week

If you are a certified yoga instructor, you can keep your teaching fresh by attending workshops and seminars periodically. Workshops and seminars can last one day or several days, and they give the teacher the opportunity to be a student and receive instruction to refine their own technique. Every yoga instructor has his or her own techniques and phrases, and you can learn some new approaches to bring back to your students. And a workshop can be a chance to explore a different style of yoga. If you have only practiced Ashtanga yoga and have an Ashtanga yoga certification, try a prenatal yoga teacher workshop and decide whether you want an additional prenatal yoga certification.

Yogajournal.com maintains a current list of workshops, or ask fellow instructors where they have gone. You can find a workshop as close as the studio down the street or perhaps you would like an excuse to visit New York City or Hong Kong for an additional certification, and combine certification with vacation.

Don’t forget: When traveling out of town to attend a certification program, workshop, or seminar, you may want to bring your own mat as well as other favorite props. But write your name on your mat or props so they don’t get lost.
