Tip of the Week

The breathing techniques yoga teaches us is ideal for pregnant woman, but what about the physical aspects?

Physical exercise, such as stretching and strengthening the muscles that one will need during the birth, yoga can do much to help. There are specific warm up movements and positions, such as the Cobbler and the Spinal Twist relevant to each of the three trimesters of the pregnancy, which when used correctly, can help you build up confidence and stamina to maintain a positive frame of mind during and after your pregnancy.

There are certain positions you should not try, such as the inverted positions such as the Headstand and the Shoulderstand, that could be harmful, and should not be attempted.

Please consult your doctor and a qualified prenatal yoga instructor before performing yoga during your pregnancy.
